Latest News: My PHX Sky Train airport glass murals “Trace Elements” are featured in “Franz Mayer of Munich: Architecture Glass Art” a comprehensive book on one of the world’s foremost studios for stained glass and mosaics. The murals also received the “Award of Merit for Art in Public Places”, 33rd Valley Forward and “Top 100 International Projects” through CODAworx Awards. Daniel Mayer is a visual artist who utilizes both traditional analog and digital processes to produce works of art in bookform. Language and art result in experimental artist’s books, variable editioned prints, fine press publications and award winning large-scale public art commissions.
Mayer is the Director for ASU’s Pyracantha Press and teaches polymer plate printmaking and artists books. Since 1986 Mayer has published inter-disciplinary limited-edition handmade books and prints in collaboration with artists, writers and musicians, among others. Mayer has mentored ASU’s student artists book club ABBA: A-Buncha-Book-Artists for the past 16 years.
Mayer exhibits nationally and internationally and has work in numerous private and public special collections such as the Getty, Wellesley, Yale, National Library-Hague, Netherlands, NY Public Library, Klingspor Stadt Museum in Offenbach, ArtPool Artists Books Archives in Budapest, the Ruth and Marvin Sachner Archives of Visual and Concrete Poetry, among others.
